Hail Damage Roof Repair in Lewisville, TX

Free storm inspection, every hit photographed and marked, and we meet your adjuster on the roof so the scope of loss reflects the damage that is actually there.

If you need hail damage roof repair in Lewisville, TX, the single most important thing to understand is that hail damage is usually invisible from your driveway. Hail rarely punches a hole. It knocks the granules loose and fractures the mat underneath, leaving a bruise that fails quietly months or years later, long after the claim window has closed.

What Hail Actually Does to an Asphalt Roof

An asphalt shingle is a fiberglass mat saturated in asphalt and surfaced with ceramic granules. Those granules are not decoration. They are the shingle's protection against ultraviolet radiation, and without them the asphalt below degrades rapidly under Texas sun.

When a hail stone strikes, it does three things. It knocks granules off, exposing the asphalt. It compresses and fractures the fiberglass mat underneath, creating a soft bruise you can feel with a thumb but frequently cannot see. And it breaks the sealant bond between courses in the surrounding area, so shingles that appear untouched are now free to lift in the next wind.

The bruise is the part that matters. The roof does not leak the week after the storm. It leaks in eighteen months, when UV exposure has eaten through the exposed asphalt at the fracture point, and by then most policies will no longer accept a claim for that storm.

This is why post-storm inspections are time sensitive. Texas policies generally require claims to be reported promptly, and many carriers apply a filing window measured from the date of loss. A roof that looks fine today can still be a valid claim today and an uninsurable expense next year.

Hail in Denton County Is Not an Occasional Event

Texas records more large hail reports than any other state according to NOAA's Storm Prediction Center, and the Dallas-Fort Worth corridor is among the most consistently affected metropolitan areas in the country. Historic North Texas hail events have run into the hundreds of millions of dollars in insured damage, with hail up to softball size recorded in Denton and three-inch stones recorded in Dallas County.

More recently, severe thunderstorms in March 2025 brought damaging winds up to 80 mph and spin-up tornadoes through Denton County, with several buildings in Lewisville sustaining major damage. Northern Lewisville has previously taken hail ranging from golf ball to baseball size, breaking windshields and, in some cases, skylights and windows on homes.

For a Lewisville homeowner, the practical consequence is straightforward: your roof will almost certainly be hit at some point, and the roof you replace will more likely be replaced because of hail than because it aged out.

What Adjusters Are Looking For

Insurance adjusters assess hail damage against a fairly consistent set of criteria, and knowing them helps you understand why a claim goes one way or the other.

  • Hit density per test square. Adjusters typically chalk out a ten-by-ten foot test square on each slope and count qualifying impacts within it. Thresholds vary by carrier.
  • Damage across multiple elevations. Hits found on several slopes support a functional-damage finding for the whole roof. Damage on one slope frequently supports repair only.
  • Directional consistency. Genuine hail damage shows a directional pattern consistent with the storm's approach, usually corroborated by damage to soft metals such as gutters, vents, downspouts and window screens.
  • Collateral damage. Dented gutter aprons, vent caps, AC condenser fins, mailboxes and fence caps all corroborate that hail of a damaging size actually fell at your address.
  • Date of loss. The adjuster needs to tie the damage to a specific storm event, which is why the reported date on your claim matters and why old, undocumented damage is hard to recover.

This is precisely why we meet adjusters on the roof rather than leaving you to it. We mark and photograph the hits before the adjuster arrives, walk the roof with them, and make sure test squares are placed on slopes that actually took the storm rather than on the sheltered side of the house.

Repair, Replace, or Neither

Not every hail-hit roof is a total loss and not every claim is worth filing. Isolated hits on a young roof frequently do not meet a carrier's threshold, and filing a claim that gets denied still puts a claim on your record. Where hits are distributed across multiple slopes on a roof with real age on it, that is a different conversation.

There is also the middle case people rarely hear about: a roof with genuine hail damage that is nonetheless best repaired, because the damage is confined and the shingles are young enough to still be sourced and matched. We will tell you when that is the situation.

Warning signs

How to Spot Hail Damage From the Ground

You should not climb up there. These are the indicators you can check safely without a ladder.

Dents in gutters, downspouts and gutter aprons

Soft aluminum records hail impacts far more visibly than shingles do. Run your eye along the gutter line and the downspouts. A pattern of dimples there is strong evidence that hail of a damaging size fell at your address, and it is corroborating evidence an adjuster will look for.

Dented or split vent caps and turbine vents

Roof vents are thin metal sitting at the highest point of the roof. If the turbine caps, ridge vent covers or plumbing vent caps are dimpled or cracked, the shingles nearby almost certainly took the same impacts.

Bent fins on the AC condenser

The aluminum fins on an outdoor AC unit are among the most hail-sensitive surfaces on a property. Flattened or bent fins on the storm-facing side are a reliable indicator of hail size and direction.

Granules collecting at downspout outlets

After a hail event, look at the ground or splash block where downspouts discharge. A concentrated deposit of dark sand-like granules means the roof surface has been stripped somewhere upstream.

Dings on soft metal around the property

Mailboxes, fence caps, window screens, garage doors, patio furniture and grill lids all record hail. Photograph them. They help establish the date and severity of the event.

Cracked or shattered skylights

Northern Lewisville has taken hail large enough to break skylights and windows in past events. If a skylight is cracked, the surrounding roof field took a serious beating and needs a hands-on inspection urgently.

Our process

How We Handle a Hail Claim

Documentation first, claim second. Filing before anyone has looked at the roof is how claims get denied.

Free inspection before you file

We get on the roof, run test squares, mark and photograph every qualifying hit, and check the collateral damage on gutters, vents and AC fins. Then you know whether you actually have a claim.

You file, with our documentation in hand

You contact your carrier and report the date of loss. We supply the photographs, measurements and findings report so the claim opens with evidence attached rather than a description.

We meet the adjuster on the roof

We walk the roof with your adjuster, show them the marked hits, and make sure test squares go on the slopes that actually took the storm. Disagreements get resolved on the roof, not by letter.

Restore the roof to the approved scope

Once the scope of loss is settled we schedule the work, tear off, replace decking as needed, and install the new system. You pay your deductible, which we do not and cannot waive.

Why choose us

Why Choose Us After a Hail Storm

We Are Here Next Year, and the Year After

Serious hail brings out-of-state trucks and door knockers into Denton County within seventy two hours. Some are competent. Many will not be reachable when the roof they installed starts leaking at the valleys in three years. We have been working Lewisville roofs for 20 years and the workmanship warranty we write is one we expect to be held to.

We Do Not Touch Your Deductible

Any contractor offering to waive, absorb, rebate or eat your insurance deductible is proposing insurance fraud, which is an offense under Texas law, and they are usually recovering the cost by cutting material or labor somewhere you cannot see. We quote the real price, you pay the real deductible, and nobody signs anything false.

We Document, We Do Not Adjust

Public adjusting is a separately licensed activity in Texas. We are roofers, not public adjusters, so we do not file, negotiate or settle your claim. What we do is get the evidence right: marked hits, dated photographs, accurate measurements and material specifications, delivered so the adjuster can write an accurate scope.

Our commitments

Why Lewisville Property Owners Trust Us

Free, No Pressure Inspection

Every inspection is free and comes with a written findings report and photographs of what we actually saw on your roof. If the roof has life left in it, we tell you that and we do not quote a replacement.

GAF Master Elite Certified

GAF awards Master Elite status to a limited share of roofing contractors nationwide. It requires proof of licensing, insurance and an ongoing performance record, and it is what allows us to register the enhanced GAF system warranties on the roofs we install.

Licensed and Fully Insured

Texas does not license roofers at the state level, which is exactly why this matters. Our contractors carry general liability and workers compensation coverage, and we will hand you the certificates before anyone sets a ladder against your house.

We Handle the Insurance Claim

Hail and wind claims turn on documentation. We meet your adjuster on the roof, provide the photo evidence and measurements, and make sure the scope of loss reflects the damage that is actually there.

Hail Damage Questions

How soon after a hail storm should I have the roof inspected?

As soon as it is safe to do so. Texas policies generally require prompt reporting and many carriers apply a filing window measured from the date of loss, so a roof that is a valid claim this month can be an uninsured expense next year. The inspection is free, so there is no cost to finding out early.

My roof looks completely fine. Is an inspection still worth it?

Yes, and this is the most common way people lose money on hail. Functional hail damage is a bruise in the mat under the granule surface, which is usually invisible from the ground and often invisible from the roof unless someone is testing by hand. Roofs that look untouched are frequently found to have qualifying damage.

Will filing a hail claim raise my premium?

Weather-related claims are treated differently from at-fault claims by most carriers, and in a region that takes hail as regularly as North Texas, rate movements tend to be driven by area-wide loss experience rather than your individual claim. That said, it varies by carrier, so ask your agent. It is one more reason to inspect before filing rather than filing speculatively.

What is the difference between replacement cost value and actual cash value?

Replacement cost value pays what it costs to replace the roof today. Actual cash value pays that figure minus depreciation for the roof's age, which on an eighteen year old roof can be a very large reduction. Check which one your policy carries before you need it, because it is the single biggest factor in what you end up paying out of pocket.

A door knocker told me my roof is destroyed. Should I sign with them?

Not on the doorstep, and not that day. Get a second opinion from a contractor who was in Denton County before the storm and will be here after it. Check their manufacturer certification on the manufacturer's own website, ask for certificates of insurance, and never sign a contingency agreement you have not read because some of them bind you to a contractor regardless of the claim outcome.

Can you tarp my roof while the claim is being processed?

Yes, and if there is active water intrusion we will do it the same day. Emergency tarping is normally recognized by carriers as reasonable mitigation, which most policies require you to undertake, so keep the receipt and photograph the damage before we cover it.
